Q  &  b Ass  with Marc What’s up everybody?  Along with the release of our new music I thought I would start a blog to answer some of the questions people ask me at our performances. Right after a gig is a hard time to talk. It’s difficult to get into anything with too much detail or story so I will try to accomplish that here. Please participate-come to shows-ask questions!!!  I will do my best to be informative and entertaining. 

#1- “The Ric” 

The most common questions I get are by far about my Rickenbacker bass guitar. Here is some info about the bass and the story of how I got it. It is a 1974 Rickenbacker Bass 4003. Red Fireglow. It has a through body neck, the classic triangle fret inlays and mono/stereo output jacks. It weighs 9 pounds!!!!        I use Fender flatwound strings on it. I bought it in 1984 at Banko’s Music in Ansonia CT. I had just begun playing the bass and had a cheap “starter” instrument. During a lesson I asked the teacher why my bass didn’t sound like his bass. Then he told me. It was the lesson about you get what you pay for!  I was a little mad about wasting $60 on that shitty bass. It’s probably still on the bottom of Cooks Pond! The next day I went to Banko’s with all my money - 475 bucks. I looked up at the ceiling from which hung what seemed to be a million guitars and said “I need a real instrument.” Joe reached up and gently lowered the hidden gem and told me I would love it. He was right. I have been playing it ever since that day in 1984. It has been around the world with me and never given me any problems and of course I used it on the latest recordings.
